Actress Priyanka Chopra garnered significant acclaim for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. The historical drama also featured Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, yet it was Priyanka's portrayal of Kashibai that resonated most with audiences. In a conversation with Lehren, Priyanka's mother, Madhu Chopra, identified Kashibai as one of the most challenging roles of her daughter's career, noting that Priyanka exhibited remarkable concentration during the film's production.

‘Kashibai was very challenging’

When asked to highlight her favorite performances by Priyanka, Madhu Chopra mentioned both Barfi and Bajirao Mastani. She elaborated on the filming of Bajirao Mastani, stating, “Kashibai was very challenging due to the close-up shots that relied heavily on facial expressions. Sanjay [Leela] Bhansali is a demanding director, and ensuring his satisfaction with the performance was the primary goal. Priyanka was intensely focused during this time, avoiding any distractions and refraining from conversation even in her van.”

During the interview, Madhu also expressed uncertainty regarding any potential fallout between Priyanka and Bhansali after she was not cast in his earlier film, Ram Leela, although she did perform a special number titled Ram Chahe Leela. However, Priyanka felt pleased when she was later approached for the film Mary Kom, which was produced by Bhansali.

On the professional front, Priyanka is set to appear in Heads of State and the second season of Citadel. Additionally, she is rumored to star in an upcoming project by SS Rajamouli alongside Mahesh Babu, with an official announcement anticipated soon.
