Salman Khan and Sangeeta Bijlani first crossed paths on the sets of a television commercial during their formative years in Bollywood, leading to a romantic relationship that lasted nearly a decade. Following this extended period together, the couple made plans to marry, having established a date and arranged for invitations. However, Salman unexpectedly chose to withdraw from the commitment. Even after the passage of time, Sangeeta has seldom discussed her relationship with him.

Recently, she appeared as a guest on an episode of Indian Idol 16. During the program, an individual inquired about one aspect of her life that she would like to alter. Sangeeta humorously replied, "Jo the na, mere ex," mimicking Salman Khan. She expressed feeling significantly constrained by ongoing limitations. She mentioned that wearing short dresses was not permissible, and the neckline could not be too revealing. The dress length had to adhere to specific guidelines. He would have certainly disallowed her from donning the knee-length blue dress she showcased on the program. Initially, he had allowed Sangeeta to wear such attire, but eventually, he ceased to do so, leading her to feel a sense of shyness.

Sangeeta acknowledged that she has shed her former timidity and can now be referred to as a "gundi." She is no longer paralyzed by fear. During that period, she tended to keep to herself, an aspect of her past she wished to change. Nevertheless, since embracing these transformations, her identity has significantly evolved.

Following Sangeeta's revelation, fellow contestant Manasi Ghosh promptly posed another question. She asked whether Salman and Sangeeta had finalized their wedding invitations. In a state of disbelief, Sangeeta replied, "That's correct." She humorously added, "Do not strike lightning on her, as her name is Bijli." With that, her confession came to a close.

Subsequently, Vishal Dadlani directed his attention to Sangeeta and inquired with curiosity, "What is the story?" Aditya Narayan interjected, suggesting that they should address this matter at Bhavana. Sangeeta then expressed her eagerness to share the story with him at Bhavana. Bhavana is located within the Parel apartment complex in Mumbai, where both Vishal and Sangeeta reside.

During his appearance on Koffee With Karan, Salman previously spoke about his engagement to Sangeeta. However, he made the surprising decision to cancel the wedding. In that same conversation, Karan humorously asked if Sangeeta had caught him in a compromising situation. Salman dismissed the suggestion with laughter, denying that it had happened.
