Actor Sandeepa Dhar has expressed her discontent with Bollywood celebrities casually discussing their experiences with cosmetic surgery. In a recent interview, she criticized the normalization of Botox within the industry, arguing that it should not be portrayed as a trivial matter.

Sandeepa Dhar calls out Bollywood's botox culture

In a recent interview with TellyChakkar, Sandeepa shared her views on the increasing acceptance of Botox within the entertainment sector. She addressed this issue while reflecting on the pressures of aging faced by actors.

Sandeepa remarked, “Aging is a significant concern. As a woman, I often wonder why society insists that actresses have a limited shelf life. Given that this is a visual medium, there is an expectation to maintain a certain appearance. As one ages, the emergence of facial lines becomes noticeable, and while aging is a natural and beautiful process, the industry often portrays it negatively. As I age, I have come to appreciate that each line on my face tells a story and contributes to my character. I do not feel the need to resort to injections or surgeries to appear as if I am 21. I am not 21 anymore.”

She further expressed her discontent with the normalization of cosmetic procedures, stating, “I feel very troubled when individuals attempt to downplay this issue. I recently watched an interview with an actress who casually mentioned, ‘Yes, I’ve had a couple of things done. What’s the big deal? I’ll admit it.’ No, it is a significant matter. It should not be trivialized. Undergoing such procedures is a serious undertaking. There are young girls, as young as 16 or 17, who might save money to alter their appearance. Many people face life-threatening risks during these surgeries. It is crucial to remember that surgery should only be considered when it is necessary for one’s health. That should be the only circumstance warranting such procedures.”

Last year, Khushi Kapoor attracted attention when she disclosed that she had undergone cosmetic enhancements, including a nose job and fillers. Subsequently, she addressed her social media comments regarding her procedures.
