Since the controversy surrounding his show India's Got Latent, which was sparked by comments from Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina has remained relatively quiet on the matter. Aside from a single tweet in which he expressed his willingness to assist the authorities, he has refrained from further commentary. However, during a recent performance, Samay broke his silence to make light of the situation, humorously thanking the audience for 'covering' his legal expenses through ticket purchases.

Currently, Samay Raina is touring Canada with his live comedy show, Samay Raina Unfiltered. He recently entertained a full house of 700 fans in Edmonton, marking his first performance since the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent. A fan named Shubham Dutta, who attended the show, shared his impressions and some of Raina's jokes in a Facebook post. Nevertheless, the post was removed by Wednesday, although it had already been circulated by several other social media accounts.

Samay Raina gets teary-eyed

In his post, Dutta commended Samay Raina for his courage to perform amid the surrounding controversy. He remarked, "For the first time, I witnessed a 25-year-old man, burdened by significant mental strain, with dark circles under his eyes, a gaunt face, and disheveled hair, stepping onto the stage clad in a dust-laden black hoodie. His initial words into the microphone were, 'Thanks for paying my lawyer's fees,'" as noted by Dutta, referencing Raina.

Dutta further observed that Samay appeared to have tears in his eyes prior to commencing his performance. "For the first time, I saw approximately seven hundred individuals from the so-called 'degenerate' generation of today rallying behind him, while he stood there, tears welling in his eyes, just before he began his set," Dutta expressed in his post.

Samay Raina jokes about Ranveer Allahbadia

Samay made some jokes about the controversy during his set, the Facebook post stated. "Iss show pe bahut mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai ( In this show there will be many opportunities where you will feel that I could say something very funny, but remember BeerBiceps during such times),” Raina said at one point of time.

Dutta wrote further, "A man who, despite being in a dangerously turbulent phase of his life, still managed to make everyone laugh for two hours ended the show with these words: 'Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon (Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends—I am time itself)'."

The India's Got Latent Row

Samay Raina has created and hosts India's Got Latent, a web talent show. On the most recent episode, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia was one of the guests, and he made a joke about 'watching your parents have sex or joining them'. The comment received widespread criticism, and several FIRs were filed against the two as well as other panelists. The Supreme Court has rapped the show, and Allahbadia in an ongoing hearing against charges of obscenity against the show.
