An Instagram account named Successverse recently posted highlights from a video that was initially shared by the YouTube channel, Diary Of A CEO. The post was titled: 'Why Men Leave Sick Partners: The Cold Truth Behind Relationship Abandonment'. It addressed a 'shocking statistic' indicating that 'men are 624% more likely to abandon their partner if she is diagnosed with a terminal illness, whereas women tend to remain and provide care for their ill spouses'. Following this, two experts engaged in a discussion to explore the underlying reasons for this phenomenon, attributing it to factors such as gender roles and social conditioning, among others.

In the two weeks since its release on Instagram, the video has garnered more than 60,000 views, including one from Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Although the actress did not comment or share the post on her profile or stories, she did express her approval by leaving a thumbs-up.

Samantha's illness struggles

In 2022, Samantha disclosed her ongoing struggle with myositis, an autoimmune disease that currently has no cure. Myositis occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the muscles, leading to symptoms such as pain, weakness, and inflammation. The actress has shared how this condition complicates her ability to function and work effectively.

She spoke about her health challenges just a year after her marriage to fellow Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya came to an end. The couple began their relationship in 2015 and married in 2017. However, speculation about their separation arose in 2020 when Samantha removed her married surname, Akkineni, from her social media profiles. The couple's divorce was finalized the following year.

Samantha's most recent appearance was in the Amazon Prime Video series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, released in 2024. This series, created by Raj & DK, featured Varun Dhawan in a leading role and is part of the Citadel universe established by the Russo Brothers. It has been reported that Amazon has decided to cancel the second season of Honey Bunny, although the second season of the main series, which stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, is still in production. Currently, Samantha is working on a Netflix series titled Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom.
