Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been experiencing health issues for an extended period. On Friday evening, she took to her Instagram Stories to announce that she had been diagnosed with chikungunya. The actor mentioned that she is in the process of recovering from the illness.

Samantha is recovering from chikungunya

Samantha shared a short video showcasing her workout session at the gym. Dressed in a purple ensemble, she was positioned with her back facing the camera. In her post, Samantha commented, "Recovering from chikungunya is quite enjoyable (unamused face emojis). The joint pains and everything."

Samantha had a concussion on Citadel sets

The actress, who was most recently featured in Citadel: Honey Bunny, has disclosed that she suffered a concussion while working on the set of the production. In a conversation with Galatta India, Samantha remarked, “I experienced a concussion and subsequently forgot names. I completely lost my memory. It was quite an experience. Reflecting on it now, I realize that no one took me to the hospital or inquired about my well-being.”

Samantha was earlier diagnosed with myositis

In 2022, Samantha disclosed her diagnosis of the autoimmune disease myositis. In an interview with India Today, she stated, “I was compelled to make my condition public. At that time, I had a female-centric film set for release. I was experiencing significant illness during that period. It was challenging, and I was not prepared for it. There was a great deal of speculation and misinformation circulating.”

She further remarked, "The producers required my presence for promotional activities. Without my involvement, the film would likely fail. Therefore, I consented to participate in one interview. Naturally, I did not appear as I usually would. I was on high doses of medication to maintain stability. It was a necessity. If given the option, I would have preferred not to disclose my condition."

Samantha's most recent role was in the action series Citadel: Honey Bunny, where she portrayed an agent. The series is penned by Sita R Menon and directed by the duo Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK). This production represents the Indian segment of the worldwide Citadel franchise. Citadel: Honey Bunny made its debut on Prime Video on November 7 of the previous year. The cast also includes Varun Dhawan, Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem, and Sikander Kher.
