Salman Khan has responded to ‘brats’ comment on Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. Many, including Javed’s wife Shabana Azmi, thought the blockbuster writer duo had an air around them. This led to a lot of people tagging them as brats. Jaya Bachchan revealed the same in the trailer of the docuseries Angry Young Men unveiled recently. Salman has now commented on the perspective people had on Salim-Javed back in the day.

Salman Khan reveals where the sentiment comes from

At the trailer launch, Salman spoke on the comment. He mentioned that the duo had to refuse a lot of producers and actors, so that's where the sentiment came from: "Who do these people think they are?" "They've lost their minds.": were some of the comments passed on the blockbuster writer duo.

“Their minds weren’t lost”

“But their minds weren't lost; in fact, their minds were working very well because they were delivering hit after hit. And those with whom they couldn't work for various reasons, like scheduling conflicts, not liking the plot or character, or not liking the face (of that person), those people labelled them as having "lost their minds." But, in reality, it was those people who had lost their minds,” Salman said at the launch.

Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan talk of Salim-Javed’s other side

Shabana Azmi, who is now married to Javed Akhtar, recalled how she was among those who assumed that Salim-Javed had an air around them. Jaya Bachchan also called them 'brats' after achieving success. The duo has also been tagged as people who are ‘not humble at all.’ However, Salman Khan has a different viewpoint in the matter.

Directed by Namrata Rao, Angry Young Men is a docuseries which talks of Salim-Javed partnering into the blockbuster duo. It talks of their passion to change people’s perspective on whether writers can achieve success or not. The show also shows us the falling apart of the duo after delivering blockbusters back-to-back for a whole decade.

Angry Young Men is backed by Salman Khan Films and Tiger Baby Films (Javed Akhtar’s daughter Zoya Akhtar’s production house) and will release in three parts. The first will be out on Prime Video from August 20.
