Recently, the media has been focused on the possibility of Salman Khan collaborating with Atlee. Nevertheless, recent developments suggest that scheduling conflicts involving Rajinikanth have caused the project to be postponed.

Mega-budget two-hero film in the works

With Sun Pictures producing, Atlee is in the midst of negotiations with Khan for a two-hero, mega-budget production. Reincarnation is supposedly at the centre of this massive historical epic that rivals Game of Thrones in scope. But now that it seems the project has been shelved, rumours abound about what would have happened next.

This A6 film featuring Khan was designed from the outset as a two-hero venture, aimed at incorporating prominent figures from both the North and the South to justify its substantial budget of Rs 650 crore, according to an industry insider. While the superstar endorsed the project, Atlee and Sun Pictures were confident in their ability to secure either Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan for the roles. However, after over six months of discussions with these two legends of Tamil cinema, no agreement was reached due to various factors.

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan decline the film

Haasan expressed reluctance to portray the role of Salman Khan's father, while Rajinikanth is scheduled to film Coolie and Jailer 2 through 2026, as reported by sources. His calendar is fully booked until next year, as he is poised to greenlight another project following Jailer 2. After unsuccessful negotiations, Atlee and Sun Pictures conducted an extensive search for a suitable replacement for either Rajinikanth or Haasan, but were unable to find a viable option. They sought a local superstar capable of generating significant revenue through digital and satellite rights, yet there were few alternatives among senior stars with comparable market appeal.

The production team even attempted to expand their search internationally. Although the financial arrangements did not align, discussions were initiated with Sylvester Stallone for a supporting role. However, due to the intricacies of contracts and other challenges, the team continues to explore opportunities for casting additional foreign actors, a process that is expected to take longer than usual. Ultimately, Atlee, Khan, and Sun Pictures have resolved to collaborate after these numerous setbacks. According to sources, this decision stems from the understanding that ambitious projects often require time to come to fruition, and that certain films are best realized through partnerships between different film industries, whether they be North and South or India and Hollywood.

Also, it's going to be fascinating to watch how Salman Khan and the other big names in entertainment work together on Atlee's film.
