Filmmaker Vinay Sapru, who co-directed Sanam Teri Kasam with Radhika Rao, expressed that if the film had been produced in the 1990s, Salman Khan would have been cast in the leading role. In an interview with India Today, Vinay referred to Salman as the "ultimate romantic hero of the era."

When inquired about the potential lead for a 90s version of the film, he stated, "Without a doubt, it would have been Salman! The innocence reflected in his eyes, the way he gazes at and embraces the female lead and the purity of his thoughts and emotions—he epitomized the ideal romantic hero of that time, and he would have been our perfect Inder. Salman's presence in a film enhances the appeal of his co-stars, making them shine, especially if they are newcomers. His charisma alone uplifts his leading ladies. He truly was the quintessential romantic hero of the 90s!"

Salman and Vinay previously collaborated on the 2005 film Lucky: No Time For Love, which was both written and directed by Radhika and Vinay, featuring Sneha Ullal in the cast.
