Superstar Salman Khan's Eid release, Sikandar, has garnered a tepid response at the box office, failing to generate the anticipated excitement. In light of this, it has been reported that the actor has chosen to take a step back, assess the situation, and determine his future projects.

Salman Khan meets fans in Mumbai

On April 5, Salman met with several fans to discuss various facets of his career, including his recent release and his future direction.

“Salman aims to maintain a connection with his fans and gather their feedback directly. He is establishing a platform for open communication, allowing him to grasp their reactions to his work and their expectations. The recent gathering was informal and free of any set agenda to facilitate this interaction,” a source revealed.

During this meeting, fans expressed their views on Sikandar, highlighting aspects that fell short of their expectations. Salman was genuinely moved by the affection and concern shown by his fans, expressing his desire to undertake projects that bring them joy.

Looking ahead, Salman has several projects lined up, with rumored collaborations that include a reunion with Sanjay Dutt in Ganga Ram, a sequel to the successful film Kick, and a possible venture with director Atlee.

According to an insider, Salman does not plan to withdraw from his existing commitments. However, he intends to take a moment to reassess and evaluate various elements before proceeding.

“Salman will continue with the projects he has already committed to. Regarding future endeavors, he will make decisions in a few weeks after careful consideration. One thing is certain: Salman Khan will persist in working on films that resonate with him, and he is eager to share these narratives with his audience,” the source added.

Salman’s Sikandar debacle

After a hiatus since 2023, Salman made his return to cinemas with Sikandar, yet the film did not achieve significant success at the box office. This marks Salman's first Eid release in two years, with Sikandar premiering in theaters on Sunday, March 30.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, renowned for his work on films such as Ghajini, Sikandar tells the story of Salman’s character, Sikandar, who embarks on a mission for justice to safeguard the three individuals who received organ donations from his wife. The cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi in key roles.

According to the latest box office report from Sacnilk.com, the film crossed the ₹100 crore milestone in India on its eighth day of release. The report indicates that Sikandar earned ₹4.50 crore on its eighth day, bringing its total earnings over the first eight days to ₹102.25 crore net. The film debuted with ₹26 crore, which was notably lower than Chhaava's ₹31 crore opening. By the conclusion of its first week, Sikandar had accumulated ₹90.25 crore.
