Bollywood icon Salman Khan, currently preparing for the launch of his forthcoming film Sikandar, recently featured on his nephew Arhaan Khan's podcast, Dumb Biryani. During the discussion, he offered guidance to his nephew regarding making prudent career decisions and adhering to a proper path. The actor disclosed that his childhood ambition was not to pursue acting, but rather to become a director.

Salman Khan wished to be a director

Salman expressed that his initial aspiration was to become a director, stating, "I distinctly remember my desire to be a director. I began my career in modelling, and subsequently, I pursued directing. During that period, I engaged in writing, a practice I continue to this day. However, at that time, my focus was on directing, and I would write as well. Unfortunately, I faced challenges in securing directorial opportunities. At the age of 17, I was met with scepticism, as people questioned, 'How can this kid direct?'"

He elaborated on his transition to acting, noting, "Wherever I went, the advice was to 'start acting.' Consequently, I began creating videos alongside Nasir, Nazim, and Kazim, who are the sons of Johnny (Walker) Chacha. In those productions, I did not play the role of a comedian or a villain; rather, I portrayed the hero."

Salman's illustrious Bollywood career commenced in 1988 with a supporting role in Biwi Ho Toh Aisi, featuring Rekha, Farooq Sheikh, and Bindu. He subsequently starred as the lead in Sooraj Barjatya's romantic musical Maine Pyar Kiya, opposite Bhagyashree. This film achieved monumental success, propelling him to stardom. He continued to deliver numerous hits and blockbusters, including Baaghi: A Rebel for Love, Kurbaan, Patthar Ke Phool, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, and Karan Arjun, among others. Today, he stands as one of the most successful and sought-after actors in Bollywood.
