The world has recently been introduced to Be Happy, a film featuring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role and directed by Remo D'Souza, who has long aspired to bring this project to fruition. However, it may come as a surprise that Abhishek was not the initial choice for the lead role. In fact, Salman Khan was originally slated to star in the film. The reason for his withdrawal is even more fascinating—he opted for another film, which subsequently became one of the most criticized Hindi movies in history. Continue reading to learn more.

Salman Khan Was the Original Choice for Be Happy

Produced by Lizelle Remo D'Souza under the banner of Remo D'Souza Entertainment Pvt Ltd and directed by Remo D'Souza, Be Happy is an emotionally resonant dance drama featuring an impressive cast, including Abhishek Bachchan, Nora Fatehi, and Inayat Verma, along with Nassar, Johny Lever, and Harleen Sethi in significant roles. Initially, Salman Khan was confirmed to portray the character of a single father, a role now taken on by Abhishek Bachchan. Reports indicate that Khan opted for Race 3 instead of Be Happy.

Indeed, this information was disclosed by producer Ramesh Taurani during an interview with News18 Showsha. He revealed that Race 3 was not the first intended collaboration between Salman Khan and Remo D'Souza. Prior to that, they were engaged in the development of Be Happy, a narrative centered on a single father determined to achieve his daughter's aspirations. Salman was actively involved in the script alongside Remo, and the project had even cast Daisy Shah and Jacqueline Fernandez in prominent roles. However, as time progressed, Salman gravitated more towards Race 3, resulting in Be Happy being set aside.

Taurani elaborated, stating, "The decision to alter the cast of Race was ours. We were eager to collaborate with Salman once more following our work on Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai and Auzaar. We had been attempting to partner for four to five years before Race 3 ultimately came to fruition." With Abhishek Bachchan now taking on the lead role, Be Happy is scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video on March 14, 2024.
