Music composer AR Rahman's former wife, Saira Rahman, was recently hospitalized for a medical emergency and had to have surgery. She shared a statement through her legal team, expressing gratitude to AR Rahman, sound designer Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, along with her legal counsel Vandana Shah for their constant support.

Saira's remarks

A paparazzo shared a statement from Vandana Shah and Associates on Instagram regarding Mrs. Saira Rahman. It says, “A few days ago, Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalized due to a medical emergency and had to undergo surgery. Right now, her main focus is on getting better. She really appreciates all the concern and support from everyone and asks for prayers from her many well-wishers.”

Saira also took a moment to thank her friends, saying, “Mrs. Saira Rahman wants to extend her heartfelt thanks to her friends in Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia, along with Vandana Shah and Mr. Rahman, for their constant support during this tough time. She is incredibly thankful for their kindness and encouragement. God bless.”

Additionally, Saira requested some privacy, stating, “Mrs. Saira Rahman is asking for privacy during this time and is grateful for the understanding shown by her supporters and well-wishers.”

AR Rahman and Saira have decided to part ways

Rahman and Saira announced their split last November after being married for 29 years. In a statement shared by Vandana, they mentioned, “After many years together, Saira and her husband, A.R. Rahman, have made the tough choice to part ways. This decision follows a lot of emotional challenges in their relationship.”

As rumors about their separation swirled, Saira put out a voice note explaining, “I've been dealing with some health issues for the past few months. That’s why I needed some space from AR. I kindly ask all YouTubers and the Tamil media not to speak negatively about him. He’s an amazing person, truly the best.”
