Actor Saif Ali Khan sustained injuries following an alleged break-in at his residence in Mumbai, shared with Kareena Kapoor, during the early hours of Thursday. He was promptly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he is presently receiving emergency surgical treatment. On Thursday morning, medical professionals at Lilavati provided an update to HT regarding the actor's condition, indicating that a complete assessment of his injuries would only be possible after the surgical procedure was completed.

Saif Ali Khan's injuries

Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, reported that Saif was assaulted by an unknown individual at his residence and was admitted to the hospital at 3:30 AM. He was accompanied by his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and an aide. In describing the nature of his injuries, Dr Uttamani stated, "He has sustained six injuries, two of which are more severe. One injury is located near his spine." Additionally, Dr. Uttamani mentioned that there is an injury on the neck that is currently under assessment.

A physician at Lilavati Hospital, who requested to remain anonymous, informed HT that a fragment of a knife was discovered within the patient's body, and the medical team is still evaluating the extent of the injuries. Nevertheless, the actor is capable of moving his limbs, indicating that his spinal condition is stable.

Saif Ali Khan undergoes surgery

Dr Uttamani stated that a team of medical professionals is currently performing surgery on the actor. "The operation is in progress, being conducted by Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi. We will provide information regarding the extent of the damage once the surgery is completed." He noted that the procedure commenced at 5:30 AM and was still ongoing at 8:30 AM.

How Saif Ali Khan got injured

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor reside in an apartment complex located in Bandra West, where they live with their two sons, Taimur and Jeh. On Thursday at approximately 2:30 am, the actor sustained injuries following an alleged break-in at their residence. Authorities have indicated that it remains uncertain whether Saif was injured during a confrontation with the intruder or if he was stabbed. The police reported that the assailant escaped the scene after the occupants of the apartment were awakened, and efforts were underway to locate him. The Bandra police are in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR), and multiple police teams have been established to apprehend the suspect.

In a statement released by the actor's team, it was noted: “An attempted burglary occurred at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is presently hospitalized and undergoing surgery. We kindly ask the media and fans for their patience as this is a matter for the police. We will provide updates as the situation develops.”
