Saif Ali Khan has addressed the incident that occurred at his residence last month. On January 16, an intruder assaulted Saif at his home in Mumbai, resulting in six knife injuries. Following the attack, the actor was hospitalized and underwent several surgeries; however, he has since returned to work. In his initial interview after the incident, Saif shared with Delhi Times the immediate response of his son Taimur to the attack.

Saif Ali Khan on Taimur' reaction

Saif recounted the harrowing experience of sustaining injuries while confronting an assailant, noting that his kurta was stained with blood. Following the incident, his family, which included his wife Kareena and their sons Taimur and Jeh, descended to search for an auto rickshaw or taxi to transport them to the hospital. "I mentioned that I was experiencing some pain and felt something was amiss with my back. She responded by saying that I should go to the hospital while she would head to her sister's house. She was making frantic phone calls, but no one was available. We exchanged glances, and I reassured her, saying, ‘I’m fine. I’m not going to die.’ Taimur also inquired, ‘Are you going to die?’ to which I replied, ‘No.’"

Initial reports suggested that Saif's elder son Ibrahim had accompanied him to the hospital; however, it was later clarified by doctors at Lilavati Hospital that it was Taimur who was by his side. When asked about the decision for the 8-year-old to accompany him, Saif remarked, "He remained remarkably calm and assured. He stated, ‘I’m coming with you.’ At that moment, I found great solace in simply looking at him. I did not wish to go alone. My wife sent him, fully aware of the support he would provide. Perhaps it was not the conventional choice, but it felt right to me. I also considered that, should the worst occur, I would prefer him to be present, and he wanted to be there as well. Thus, we traveled together—Taimur, myself, and Hari—in the rickshaw."

Saif ultimately spent a total of five days at Lilavati Hospital. On the day of the incident, he underwent two surgical procedures. The medical team attending to him reported that he sustained six injuries, two of which were particularly severe. He was released from the hospital on January 21. Earlier this month, he made his first public appearance following the attack at a Netflix India event. With his neck wrapped in bandages and his hand in a cast, Saif promoted his forthcoming Netflix film, Jewel Thief.
