Sai Pallavi turned down the Telugu remake of Premam?

Sai Pallavi became well-known for her role as Malar teacher in the 2015 Malayalam movie Premam. But when the film was adapted into Telugu with Naga Chaitanya and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Shruti Haasan took on the character originally played by Sai Pallavi.

Sai Pallavi shared that she was approached for the role but turned it down because she doesn't do remakes. She explained, "It's really daunting. Even if Alphonse, Nivin, and I tried to recreate it, I doubt we could capture those same moments again. It was a unique experience, and we just happened to catch it on film. There's so much pressure to replicate that, and I don't want to risk losing the magic that was there before. So, I made it clear that I wouldn't take it on."
