On Saturday, Rajamouli took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts, writing, "7 Padma Awards for Telugu people this time… (clapping hands emojis). Heartiest congratulations to Nandamuri Balakrishna Garu on receiving the Padma Bhushan! Your journey in Indian cinema is truly commendable…"

In a separate tweet, Rajamouli congratulated filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, saying, "A well-deserved recognition… Heartiest congratulations to @ShekharKapur sir on being awarded the Padma Bhushan. Your incredible contributions to Indian cinema have left a remarkable impact, and your work continues to inspire generations."

Internet isn't impressed with Rajamouli's post
In response to Rajamouli’s post, one person commented, "What’s all this talk about Telugu and Indian? They’re all Indians." Another tweet read, "North-South isn’t a political debate; it’s an ideology that only a few, like you, follow." One X user asked, "With all due respect, how does it matter? Is it not enough that deserving individuals are being honoured? Do we now have to segregate this regionally as well?"
The list of Padma Awardees includes late musicians Sharda Sinha and Pankaj Udhas among the 139 recipients. Other notable honorees include actor Anant Nag and Bharatnatyam dancer-actor Shobana, who were awarded the Padma Bhushan. Barry John, Arijit Singh, Ashok Saraf, Ricky Kej, and Jaspinder Narula are among those receiving the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour.
The full list comprises seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri Awards. Among the awardees, 23 are women, 10 are Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI, and 13 are posthumous awardees.
