Podcaster and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia went to the Supreme Court on Monday to ask for a change to the restriction that prevented him from airing episodes of The Ranveer Show until further notice. The court granted him some relief but also laid out specific conditions he has to adhere to.

Ranveer Allahbadia is able to host his podcast

Live Law shared on X (formerly Twitter) that when Ranveer showed up in court, Justice Surya Kant made a light-hearted comment about why he and his team can't host shows on YouTube, saying, “That was just to prevent more FIRs against you.” Bar and Bench also mentioned that Ranveer can get back to podcasting as long as he keeps up the ‘desired standards of morality and decency’ so that viewers of all ages can tune in.

According to PTI, Ranveer went to court because the podcast was his ‘only source of livelihood.’ While SG Mehta suggested it might be better for him to ‘stay quiet for a while,’ the Supreme Court allowed him to continue airing The Ranveer Show. However, he hasn't been given the green light to travel abroad just yet, with the court stating that permission could come after he participates in the investigation. Ranveer also got protection from arrest until further notice and was told to show up for the inquiry in Guwahati, Assam.

Something went down

In February, Ranveer, known as BeerBiceps, faced backlash for a controversial question he posed to a contestant on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. He asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” While the audience and panel found it funny, many online criticized his so-called ‘joke.’ This led to FIRs being filed against Ranveer, Samay, and other guests like Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani in Maharashtra, Assam, and elsewhere. Ranveer has since issued an apology both in a video and in writing.
