Music stars who have transitioned into acting, Rowoon (formerly of SF9) and Kim Minju (formerly of IZ*ONE), are potential leads for a forthcoming romance drama titled “Shining” (literal title).
The project will be directed by Kim Yoon Jin, known for her work on Our Beloved Summer, featuring Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi, as well as "Tell Me That You Love Me", starring Shin Hyun Been and Jung Woo Sung. The script for the K-drama “Shining” will be written by Lee Sook Yeon, who also worked on On the Way to the Airport.
About Rowoon's potential new K-drama role
On Tuesday, January 21, the K-media outlet STARNEWS reported a strong likelihood of Rowoon joining the cast of an upcoming series. In response, his agency, FNC Entertainment, confirmed that he is "currently reviewing" the project.
Should everything proceed favourably, the Extraordinary You actor will portray Yeon Tae Oh, a train conductor who experiences a life-changing tragedy at the age of 19. This incident results in the loss of his parents, while his brother sustains injuries in the wake of the catastrophic event.
Castaway Diva actor was originally in talks to play the male lead
South Korean actor Chae Jong Hyeop, known for his roles in Love All Play, Serendipity's Embrace, Castaway Diva, and Nevertheless, was initially set to portray the male lead in the project titled "Shining," according to reports from November. However, he ultimately declined the role, prompting consideration of Rowoon as his successor.
At that time, Kim Minju's agency, Management SOOP, announced that she had been offered a role in director Kim Yoon Jin's upcoming project. While negotiations are still in progress, she is anticipated to take on the character of Mo Eun Ah, a hotelier with a significant past connection to Tae Oh.
Details regarding the broadcast of the upcoming drama have not yet been disclosed. Please stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, Rowoon is also set to make his return to K-drama in Disney Plus' The Murky Stream, where he will star alongside Shin Ye Eun later this year.
