Oscar-nominated Rosamund Pike is returning for the third installment of her fantasy adventure series, The Wheel of Time. She describes her experience on the web series as a significant turning point in her career. Interestingly, Rosamund expressed her excitement upon discovering the show's popularity in India, thanks to a chat with Indian actress Sonam Kapoor.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Rosamund shares details about her fascinating discussion with Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor and offers a glimpse into the eagerly awaited third season of the fantasy epic, The Wheel of Time.

In the third season of The Wheel of Time

The Wheel of Time, inspired by Robert Jordan's fantasy series, continues to follow Rand al'Thor on his dangerous path as the Dragon Reborn, alongside the strong women who aim to guide him.

The third season draws from the fourth book, The Shadow Rising. This time, viewers will explore new areas and cities across the fictional Westlands, including the expansive deserts of the Aiel Waste, the thrilling and perilous port city of Tanchico, and the mysterious, fog-covered ancient city of Rhuidean. The season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 13.

Rosamund, who portrays the intriguing Moiraine Damodred, is excited about this new chapter in The Wheel of Time.

“Season 3 is where I feel everything I envisioned for this show has finally come together. It’s even more cinematic. We’ve switched to a wide-screen format and traveled to some incredible locations. The storylines are getting richer, and we have more villains coming in to put our characters in even tougher situations. You’ll really start to see the political intrigue in this world heat up,” she shares.

For Rosamund, who first gained attention in 2002 as a Bond girl in Die Another Day, working on the show has been a significant learning experience as a producer.

“I’ve really embraced my role as Moiraine to be as supportive as possible to the younger cast, answering their questions and helping them navigate this challenging industry, which has tested me in many ways. Just like the real-life characters I’ve portrayed that required extensive research, I’ve spent countless hours reading the books to portray my character authentically. I believe my personal growth has come from supporting others on this show,” she explains.

During her conversation with Sonam Kapoor

Recently, Rosamund, representing Dior, attended a fashion show where she had the chance to meet Sonam Kapoor. This encounter made a significant impact on her, and she cherishes the conversation they had.

“The series has really struck a chord with viewers globally. I was sitting next to Sonam at the fashion show, and she mentioned how many themes from the show resonate in India. That was thrilling! She also shared insights about India’s rich archery tradition,” she reminisces.

“Our chat was short since we were at a fashion event, and we were mostly focused on what was happening around us. But I think her comedies are fantastic.”

Known for her roles in films like Pride & Prejudice, Gone Girl, and Radioactive, Rosamund adds, “I’ve met people who never thought they’d be into fantasy, yet they’re completely captivated by this show. It opened up a whole new world for me, and I got so into it that I recorded the original material as an audiobook for fans who want to dive deeper into the story.”

Reflecting on her dedication to the series, Rosamund reveals that she has spent over four years filming in the Czech Republic.

"Committing my entire family life and free time to this show... immersing myself in the world of the Wheel of Time and striving to create the best show possible,” she shares.

Her affection for India

During a relaxed moment in the interview, Rosamund shares her eagerness to return to India, where she dreams of attending a film festival and experiencing the magic of an Indian film project firsthand. She previously mentioned that her first trip to India was back in 2010 when she visited an Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala.

"I've always been curious about Indian cinema. Attending a film festival in India would be such an exciting experience. Plus, I've never seen how a production operates on the ground there, so I’d be thrilled to see that as well," she concludes.
