Actor Ronit Roy rose to fame through his role in the TV series Kasautii Zindagii Kay. But his journey in the industry wasn't smooth sailing; he faced challenges like alcoholism and financial struggles in the beginning. In a chat on the Podcast Redcarpet, he shared that he even launched a security agency during a time when he was out of work.

In the chat, when Ronit inquired about what inspired him to launch a security agency, he clarified that it wasn't about wanting to branch out. He shared, "I'm an honest guy, so I'll tell you straight. It all came from hunger and poverty. Every significant move I've made in my life has stemmed from desperation, frustration, and being broke. There was a time when my first film celebrated a silver jubilee, but after that, I couldn't land any roles. I really don't know why. It was frustrating. I was out of work and scared. I had rent to cover and needed to eat. What do you do when you're out of cash? So, I ended up taking on the wrong projects, and they bombed. Then I found myself back at square one with no job."

My life took a nosedive

He added, “My struggle with alcoholism began from that frustration. After that, everything took a turn for the worse. My life hit rock bottom. Somehow, alcohol would always find its way back to me. I’d wake up at 3 AM with a hangover, and it only made things harder. The industry had written me off, claiming I was done for. But then a friend reminded me that my name and face still had some worth. He ran a security agency, and I started visiting his office to learn and get trained, and that’s where my journey began. It all started from a place of ‘what now?’”

On the professional side, Ronit was recently seen in Farrey. This heist thriller, directed by Soumendra Padhi, features Alizeh Agnihotri, Sahil Mehta, Zeyn Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Juhi Babbar, and Shilpa Shukla. It’s an official remake of the 2017 Thai film Bad Genius.
