The partnership between Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty achieved great success with Chennai Express; however, Dilwale did not manage to replicate that success. Since then, there have been persistent rumors of a falling out between the two. Recently, Rohit has spoken out to clarify the situation and dispel the speculation.

Rohit on fallout with Shah Rukh Khan

In a recent discussion on Komal Nahta's Game Changers podcast, Rohit Shetty addressed the speculation regarding a rift with Shah Rukh Khan following the disappointing performance of Dilwale at the box office. He stated, “Nahi aisa kuch nahi (There's nothing like that).”

Rohit Shetty further elaborated, “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi. Humne decide kiya ki hum khud ki filmein banayenge. Agar loss bhi ho to humara ho, jabki loss nahi hua tha. (We have mutual respect. After Dilwale, we established our own production house. We made the decision to produce our own films so that if we incur a loss, it would be ours. However, we did not actually suffer a loss with Dilwale).”

The filmmaker highlighted that Dilwale achieved significant success internationally. It is worth noting that the film was produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan through their production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. Released on December 19, 2015, Dilwale faced competition from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical drama Bajirao Mastani, which featured Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra.

During the same discussion, Rohit shared insights about the friendships he has developed within the industry, emphasizing his close relationship with Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone. He affectionately referred to Ajay as his older brother. Regarding Deepika, he mentioned that she re-shot the final schedule of Singham while she was four months pregnant.

Rohit has achieved significant success at the box office with his recent directorial venture, Singham Again. This film is a continuation of Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe, which also includes titles like Simmba and Sooryavanshi. Singham Again marks the third installment in the Singham series and the fifth entry in the broader cop universe.

In a separate development, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for his upcoming film, King, in which he will share the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan, for the first time. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in prominent roles.
