After August 14, a bunch of astistes from the Bengal entertainment industry once again reclaimed the night along with the common people on Sunday. Swastika Mukherjee, Sohini Sarkar, Birsa Dasgupta, Bidipta Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty, Sovan Ganguly, Debleena Dutta, Madhurima Goswami, and other Tollywood people walked in the rally and then spent the night on the street.
Kaushik Ganguly saluted them and sent a message on social media. He said, “The Esplanade of the night entered our drawing room through the television. In the next night, you will be awake through television and we will spend the night on the street. It is a long way. Let us be awake taking turns till we get justice.” Will Kolkata at night in the future get Kaushik-Churni-Ujaan?
Kaushik was busy with meetings. Churni on his behalf said, “Kaushik recently lost his mother. Hence we can’t come to the street even if we want to. But our heart is there, even though we can’t be there physically.’ She said that they could not join the rallies due to family reasons and asked for time. The city will get them in a few days and will join the Reclaim the Night event. Kaushik wrote, “We stayed with you before and will stay with you in the future. Many from my directorial team are there today. But in the present situation, we can’t be there at night. But we can’t sleep.”
Churni said ‘If we are not in the movement now, when shall we be? We joined the August 14 program. We could not spend much time at the protest rally of Tollywood because of some problems in getting Kaushik’s mother’s death certificate.’ Kaushik praised the protesters. He wrote ‘We worship a goddess. Today, our singers, actresses, and many other women have become that symbol and spent the night on the street. Congratulations to the brothers, too, who stood by their side. My love for the dedication and grit of many known and unknown people. My heartfelt pranam to the spine and oath of Swastika, Aparajita, chaiti, Lagnajita, Sudipta, Bidipta, Debleena, Ushashie, Sohini, and others.’
