Rihanna has ignited a wave of excitement among her fans following her recent hints about her highly anticipated ninth studio album. Almost ten years since her previous release, the 37-year-old pop icon provided a sneak peek of what lies ahead, characterizing the forthcoming album as something that "feels right." As anticipation mounts, her enigmatic teaser has left fans keenly awaiting what is expected to be a transformative comeback.

Rihanna teases about her new album

On Saturday, the artist conveyed to Harper's Bazaar her "strong optimism" regarding her upcoming music, while also recognizing that it will be "far from what anyone anticipates." This revelation has sparked further speculation, as fans and music enthusiasts eagerly ponder the sound of Rihanna's next project, as reported by MailOnline.

Rihanna expressed to the publication, “This feels right. It feels like it digs right into where I need to be, and I want this. This body needs to come out, and I’m ready to go there.” She also noted that her time in the studio has changed now that she is a mother of two, sharing sons Rza and Riot with rapper A$AP Rocky.

She elaborated, “This is becoming my new freedom. Because when I’m in the studio, I know that my time away from my kids [RZA and Riot] is to blossom something that hasn’t been watered in eight years.” She further acknowledged, “I’ve been in the studio the whole eight years.”

Rihanna’s new music took some time

The artist disclosed that the process of discovering her new musical style was gradual, as she recognized her desire for her music to differ from what her audience last experienced in 2016. She expressed to the publication, “But it didn’t resonate with me. I was in pursuit of it. I navigated through various phases of what I wanted to create. ‘This type of album, not that type.’”

Additionally, she provided insights regarding her forthcoming album, stating, “I am aware that it will not align with anyone's expectations. It will not be commercial or suitable for radio. It will reflect where my artistry is meant to be at this moment. I feel as though I have finally unlocked it, girl!”

Moreover, she addressed the speculation surrounding the genre of her ninth album, which was rumoured to be reggae. At that time, she clarified, “There is no specific genre now. That is the reason for my delay. Each time, I thought, ‘No, this isn’t me. It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t correspond with my growth. It doesn’t align with my evolution. I cannot proceed with this.’ I cannot release anything subpar. After an eight-year wait, one might as well wait a little longer.”
