The Central Bureau of Investigation has submitted a closure report regarding the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, exonerating Rhea Chakraborty from any allegations. Rhea and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, were previously detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with a drug case tied to Sushant. Following the release of the report on Saturday, Showik expressed his relief on Instagram Stories after enduring years of public pressure.

Showik shared an old video on his Instagram Stories, showing him walking with Rhea in the mountains. He captioned it, "Satyamev Jayate (folded hands emoji)," which means "The truth shall prevail."

Details on the inquiry

Sushant was discovered dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. His father filed a complaint against actress Rhea Chakraborty, accusing her of aiding in his suicide. Both she and her brother Showik were interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding claims of money laundering.

Once the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea and her brother, claiming they provided marijuana to Sushant. However, the Bombay High Court dismissed the NCB's assertion that Rhea funded and supported Sushant's supposed addiction. They were released on bail after a few months. The case was eventually handed over to the CBI, which has been looking into the circumstances surrounding the actor's death.

Sushant made his entry into Bollywood with the film Kai Po Che. He appeared in several movies, including MS Dhoni - The Untold Story, Kedarnath, Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, Raabta, Sonchiriya, and Chhichhore, among others. His last film, Dil Bechara, was released after his passing. This adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars was directed by Mukesh Chhabra and featured Sanjana Sanghi and Swastika Mukherjee.
