Chakraborty became one of the most hated figures on the internet overnight after she was named a prime suspect in the case that followed his death. There was an investigation, and both she and her brother were taken into custody for an extended period. The Jalebi actor spent a significant amount of time in jail before eventually being released on bail. In her latest interview, she has spoken about her time in jail and how it transformed her into the person she is today. She recalls the experience and how she managed to hold herself together without breaking down.

Rhea Chakraborty Opens Up About Her Time in Jail

For those who may not know, Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly died by suicide on June 14, 2020, at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. Shortly after, an investigation uncovered links to drugs, an alleged syndicate, and much more. Rhea Chakraborty and her brother were named prime suspects and were taken into custody. In the eyes of many, she was already deemed guilty, and the hate directed towards her became intense, a burden she continues to carry to this day. The actor has now decided to talk about this experience.

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Rhea Chakraborty breaks her silence on everything that happened in jail and the episode that changed her life forever. She recalls how she refused to let herself break, even as her world was crumbling around her. She describes the constant investigations, the media scrutiny, and the mobs outside her home.

“Don't bend, don't cry, don't break. You have to take a bullet, you have to take it in the a**. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and saying, you're scared, right? It almost felt like the mirror said yes. Investigations every day, there was media and mobs under my building constantly, and it required a lot of strength to even make it to the investigation because I was worried that something would happen on the way,” Rhea Chakraborty said.

She also spoke about the resilience it took to endure all of that and still find the courage to stand on her feet. She credits the truth for giving her the strength to navigate the dark episode and continue fighting over the last four years. “When I walked out of prison, I knew I would never be the same person again. Jail is actually a very different world because there's no society in jail. It’s all about survival, you know? Every single day was about surviving. And each day felt like a year," she added.

Chakraborty went on to say that in jail, everyone is reduced to a number, and survival becomes the only focus. She recalled the emotional toll that the entire episode took on her family, who were left shattered. She also revealed that not everyone she considered a friend turned out to be a well-wisher. "I have not forgiven everybody. Some people are still on my mind," she said.
