Reeshma Nanaiah, at the age of 22 and with only five films to her credit, remains in the early stages of her acting career. Nevertheless, she perceives an increase in pressure, especially following the pan-India release of her latest film, with her upcoming project also set for a similar distribution. In an exclusive interview with HT, the actress reflects on her journey thus far and shares her aspirations for the future.

Reeshma made her acting debut in 2022 with the film Ek Love Ya. She attributes her career beginnings to the director Prem, stating, "Upendra sir (director and star of UI) noticed my performance there and subsequently cast me in UI. I am grateful to him."

UI was launched in multiple languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, marking it as a pan-India release. Reeshma acknowledges that a broader release entails a heightened sense of responsibility, as one represents their industry. "It instils a sense of duty. With the ease of reaching a larger audience, it becomes significant," she remarks. The film premiered on December 20 and has since achieved the status of the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2024.

Her upcoming film, KD - the Devil, is set to be a pan-India release, featuring Dhruva Sarja, Shilpa Shetty, and Sanjay Dutt. The actress is optimistic that this project will enhance her career prospects. Regarding the significance of dubbed releases, she remarks, "Hearing something in your native language creates a stronger connection."

The actress expresses her aspiration for increased opportunities to showcase the Kannada film industry in the future. "When the content resonates with a wide audience and they appreciate both you and the film, it highlights the diverse talent present throughout the nation. This realization fills me with pride. Karnataka has produced remarkable films, and I take great pride in being associated with that industry," she states.
