Rebecca Gayheart recently spoke about her tumultuous marriage to Eric Dane. Just one day prior to the Grey's Anatomy star publicly announcing his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the 53-year-old actress shared that they are currently on amicable terms. She made this revelation to E! News during the screening of The Carters: Hurts To Love You in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

“We Gayheart expressed, "We are the best of friends and share a strong bond. We are excellent co-parents." She married Dane in 2004, and together they welcomed two daughters, Billie, aged 15, and Georgia, aged 13. After 14 years of marriage, the actress initiated divorce proceedings in 2018, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Recently, however, Gayheart reconsidered her decision and filed a motion to halt the divorce. In discussing her choice, she remarked, "We have truly discovered the key to remaining a family, and I believe our children are greatly benefiting from this, as are we."
She further stated, "It is essential not to view the end of a relationship as a failure; rather, it is simply a phase. It was not a failure but rather a significant success. We were married for 15 years, and we are still married, having raised two wonderful children together, which I consider a successful relationship. That is our perspective."
This announcement from the actress came just a day before Dane revealed his diagnosis of Lou Gehrig's disease, a progressive neurodegenerative condition. "I have been diagnosed with ALS," the Borderline star shared with People on Thursday. "I am thankful to have my loving family by my side as we face this new chapter together," he added.
