2 months ago | 5 Views
As the debate surrounding his 'inappropriate' comment on India's Got Talent intensifies, YouTuber and podcast host Ranveer Allahbadia was captured in a viral video expressing his emotions through tears. In the footage, Allahbadia, widely recognized by his nickname BeerBiceps Guy, is seen weeping while addressing the camera and reflecting on the impact of his lost opportunities. This video has circulated on social media, accompanied by assertions that the YouTuber is remorseful for his behaviour during the show.
Ranveer Allahbadia's crying video
The video features Ranveer, attired in a white t-shirt, gazing into the camera as he expresses, "I feel bad because all the work has stopped, b*****d. I just feel guilty. I exposed the entire team. Because of me, all the work has ceased." This clip has circulated with assertions that it represents Ranveer's acknowledgement of guilt following his remarks on India's Got Latent and the ensuing criticism the show faced.
In reality, the context is quite different. The footage originates from a video posted by Alllahbadia three years ago during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. At that time, Allahbadia had tested positive for the virus, and this video was shared shortly thereafter. The original recording begins with him undergoing a Covid-19 test and stating, “Hi guys, I just tested positive for Covid.”
India's Got Latent Row
Controversy arose on the talent show India's Got Latent last week when guest panellist Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate joke regarding 'watching your parents engage in sexual activity or participating with them.' This remark sparked significant backlash, with many considering it to be vulgar. In response, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has initiated legal proceedings against the show. Additionally, the Guwahati Crime Branch has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against several influencers and creators affiliated with the program, citing charges related to obscenity and the safeguarding of women's dignity.
As part of the ongoing investigation, individuals associated with India's Got Latent are being interrogated, including influencers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and host Samay Raina.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a statement denouncing Allahbadia's comments as "abhorrent" and "disrespectful" to societal norms. The AICWA has called for a prohibition on India's Got Latent and urged actors and filmmakers to dissociate themselves from the show and its creators.
Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina respond
In response to the controversy, Ranveer Allahbadia publicly apologized for his statements, recognizing that his comments were unsuitable. "My remarks were not only inappropriate but also lacked humour. Comedy is not my strength; I am here solely to express my regret," Allahbadia stated in a video posted on his social media platform. "Disrespecting family is the last thing I would ever consider," he further emphasized.
Additionally, host Samay Raina announced on his social media that he had removed all videos of the show from YouTube and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the authorities.
