Ranveer Allahbadia Gets Partial Relief: Supreme Court Allows Podcast Resumption with Decency Conditions
2 months ago | 5 Views
Ranveer Allahbadia just got a big win from the Supreme Court, letting him get back to his podcasts. However, there’s a catch—he’s got to be careful with his language. The court has put a limit on his BeerBiceps content, advising him to steer clear of any offensive jokes.
Ranveer Allahbadia can keep his podcasts going
On Monday, March 3, the Supreme Court turned down the request to shut down Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast channel. The judges pointed out that many employees rely on the channel for their jobs while making their decision. Abhinav Chandrachud, who had previously represented the podcaster, argued in court that his client should be allowed to continue hosting podcasts, saying, "He has a lot of employees. This is how he makes a living, not just a joke. I get that he might not be the funniest guy, but he does interview people."

What limitations does BeerBiceps face in keeping his podcast running smoothly?
Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, can keep running his podcast and hire others, but he has to stick to some guidelines. The court decided that he can continue his channel as long as he stays within the bounds of morality and decency. They rejected the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's request for him to take a break, pointing out that he employs several people, and their families depend on his work. So, as long as he keeps it decent, he’s good to go with his program.
The Supreme Court says that using bad language isn't funny
The Supreme Court pointed out that while freedom of speech is important, it does have its boundaries, and using offensive language isn't really funny. The judges referenced some top-notch comedians and talented writers in Bollywood who truly get what humor is all about. They emphasized that fundamental rights come with responsibilities too. The country ensures you can enjoy these rights, but there are also duties that come along with them.
India's Got Latent situation

India's Got Latent turned into a national topic when Allahbadia, a guest on the show, posed a question about incest to one of the contestants. Besides BeerBiceps, the show's creator, Samay Raina, ended up removing videos from his channel and issued an apology for the content that was posted. As of now, there’s no clear news on whether the show might make a comeback anytime soon.
