Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Backlash for Offensive Jokes on "India's Got Latent"
1 month ago | 5 Views
Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, who’s famous for his channel BeerBiceps, recently joined the panel on Samay Raina's edgy show, India's Got Latent. However, his attempts to keep up with Samay and the show's dark humor haven't been well-received online. Many are calling him out for making several inappropriate and offensive jokes, leading to discussions about the need for regulation of online shows like Latent, which airs on YouTube.
India's Got Latent features Samay Raina alongside a group of celebrities acting as 'judges' for various performers. Contestants showcase their talents, and the judges give them scores. The twist is that contestants have to guess their score to win. The show has attracted both fans and critics due to its dark humor, use of profanity, and laid-back format.
Ranveer Allahbadia made a questionable joke
In the most recent episode, Ranveer Allahbadia put a contestant on the spot, asking some pretty awkward questions about their parents' intimate life. He bluntly asked, "Would you prefer to watch your parents get it on every day or join in to just get it over with?" While Samay Raina and the other guests laughed and cheered, the online reaction was far from positive. One tweet summed it up: "How do I unhear that cringeworthy Ranveer Allahbadia moment?"
People online are calling for Ranveer to be canceled
One person commented, "You should really check out what they mean by 'dark comedy.' Someone else joked about Ranveer winning the 'Disruptor of the Year' award from the Prime Minister last year, asking, 'After those disgusting incest comments, is he going to lose that award? Or do awards just come with zero responsibility?'"
Ranveer's other jokes also got people riled up online, especially one about Kerala's literacy rates. One tweet pointed out, "Ranveer is cracking up the most in that video making fun of Kerala. And for what? Literacy?! That’s rich! Most of his fake news and hate-filled videos get called out by Malayalees anyway."
A lot of people on Twitter are calling for the authorities to step in and regulate content on shows like India's Got Latent, which dodge streaming censorship by being on YouTube. One comment said, "Hey @BeerBicepsGuy, that's shameful! I'm asking @MIB_India to check out these unfiltered shows that are promoting vulgarity and cheapness."
This isn’t the first time India’s Got Latent has stirred up some drama. There was a previous complaint about a joke related to dog meat.
