Randeep Hooda Defends ‘Occasional Actor’ Remark on Kangana | Slams Her for Targeting Alia

Randeep Hooda is receiving acclaim for his role as the antagonist Ranatunga in the film Jaat. In a recent discussion with Shubhankar Mishra, the actor reflected on his relationship with Kangana Ranaut and revisited his 2019 tweet in defense of Alia Bhatt, where he referred to Kangana as an “occasional actor.”
When inquired about his relationship with Kangana, Randeep described it as amicable but not particularly intimate. He noted that they have collaborated on a few projects, and while they do not share a close bond, they do communicate from time to time.
Regarding his characterization of Kangana Ranaut as an ‘occasional actor,’ Randeep recalled that in 2019, Kangana criticized Alia's performance in Gully Boy as “mediocre.” In response, Randeep defended Alia without directly naming Kangana, stating on social media, “Dearest @aliaa08, I'm so glad you are not letting the opinions of very occasional actors and chronic victims affect you and your work. Kudos to you for your continued efforts to outdo yourself.” Many online users interpreted this tweet as a reference to Kangana.
Randeep has now acknowledged that it was indeed aimed at her, explaining, “Because she was really targeting Alia. I held no animosity towards Kangana then or now. However, due to my connection with Highway, I have a special fondness for the young Alia. Whether she reciprocates those feelings, I cannot say, but I do feel that attachment to Dheera.”
He added, “Mujhe yeh achchha nahi lagta ki aap apna tuta bajane ke liye kisi aur ko neecha dikhao, woh mujhe bilkul achchha nahi lagta. Na main karta hoon, na achchha lagta hai. Mere saath bhi aise unfairness hui hai, par aadmi usko pee jaata hai, ek dignity maintain rakhta hai. Woh jab mujhe laga ki aisa ho raha tha baatchit se, tabhi maine isko tweet kiya tha. Kangana ek bahut acchhi actor hai – unko yeh baatein shobha nahi deti (I don’t like it when people put others down just to blow their own trumpet. I don’t do that, and I don’t like it. I’ve also faced a lot of unfairness, but I swallow it and maintain my dignity. When I felt that it was going too far in the conversation, I tweeted. Kangana is a very good actor – these things don’t suit her."
