Ayan Mukerji's father, the esteemed actor Deb Mukherjee, passed away at the age of 83 on Friday morning. In response, actor Ranbir Kapoor quickly cut short his vacation in Alibaug to support his close friend Ayan during this difficult time. He also took on the role of a pallbearer at the funeral, carrying Deb's body on his shoulders.

A recent image posted by a paparazzi account on Instagram depicts Ranbir serving as a pallbearer alongside several other family members. They solemnly carried Deb's body on a stretcher, which was draped in white cloth. In the photograph, Ranbir is seen dressed in a white shirt and blue jeans.

The actor, accompanied by his wife Alia Bhatt, returned from their vacation in Alibaug on Saturday morning upon learning of Deb's passing. Ayan and Ranbir share a strong friendship within the industry and have worked together on projects such as Wake Up Sid, Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva. During a recent media gathering held to commemorate Alia's birthday, Ranbir revealed that Brahmastra: Part Two is in development. Meanwhile, Ayan is currently occupied with War 2.

Celebrities pay their final respects

Numerous Bollywood stars gathered at Ayan Mukerji's home to offer their condolences, including Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, and Jaya Bachchan, among others.

Deb passed away at the age of 83 on Friday morning due to health issues related to ageing, as confirmed by his spokesperson on Zoom. A prominent member of the Samarth-Mukherjee family, Deb was the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and the father-in-law of director Ashutosh Gowariker.

Ranbir Kapoor was last featured in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film, Animal. He is currently engaged in the production of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War. Additionally, he has the sequel to Animal, titled Animal Park, and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana in development.
