Ranbir Kapoor's film Animal generated significant excitement upon its theatrical release on December 1, 2023. The movie achieved remarkable box office success, prompting the producers to announce a sequel titled Animal Park at the conclusion of the first instalment. In a recent interview, Ranbir disclosed that the creative team is actively developing the script for Animal 2 and provided insights into the filming timeline. He also confirmed that the franchise will consist of three films.

Ranbir Kapoor on Animal 2 and Animal 3

During a conversation with Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival, Ranbir Kapoor stated that filming for Animal 2 is scheduled to commence in 2027. He also mentioned that a third instalment, Animal 3, is planned. "The director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, intends to create a trilogy," the actor noted.

Ranbir elaborated that discussions regarding the second and third parts of the story took place while they were filming the first movie. "We have been exchanging ideas from the outset, contemplating how to advance this narrative. It is thrilling because I will portray both the antagonist and the protagonist. This project is incredibly exciting, especially with such an original director at the helm. I am eager to be involved," he expressed.

Animal, which debuted in theatres in December 2023, featured a talented cast including Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, and Bobby Deol. The film's narrative focuses on a dysfunctional father-son relationship. With a production budget of 100 crores, Animal emerged as a blockbuster, grossing over 900 crores at the box office.
