Following a successful run at the box office in Kerala and various other states, Marco is now poised for its release in Korea. The producers have announced that this Malayalam film is anticipated to achieve the largest opening for an Indian movie in Korea, thereby securing its place in cinematic history. Previously, SS Rajamouli's monumental film Baahubali: The Beginning was showcased in Korea, where fans eagerly queued for the opportunity to obtain an autograph from the renowned director.
Unni Mukundan's latest action film is establishing a new standard in the South Indian film industry by achieving a release in Korea. Although the promotional materials announcing the Korean release did not provide a specific date for the film's debut, they did indicate that it would occur "bloody soon."
The distribution rights for this intense action film have been acquired by Noori Pictures in South Korea. In response to this thrilling news, Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma expressed his thoughts on X, stating, "I don’t know where all #Marco is going to go."
Uyare, featuring Parvathy Thiruvothu in the principal role, marked the inaugural release of a Malayalam film in South Korea in 2019.
Additionally, numerous Indian films have been showcased in various Asian nations, receiving positive acclaim. Recently, Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja was presented in China. This film, which includes Anurag Kashyap in a significant role, garnered considerable affection and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films in the Chinese market.
Marco's release and box office collection
Marco, which premiered in theatres on December 20, 2024, has achieved a total domestic box office collection of Rs 42.15 crore by its thirteenth day. Directed by Haneef Adeni, the film has astonished audiences with its unyielding and graphic violence. The cast includes Jagadish and Abhimanyu S Thilakan, portraying merciless antagonists in this action-driven narrative.
The film was dubbed in Telugu and made its debut in Telugu-speaking regions on January 1, 2025, while the Tamil version is set to be released in theatres on January 3.
