Allu Arjun got picked up by the Chikkadapally police in Hyderabad on Friday but was let go on temporary bail by the Telangana High Court the next day. This was related to a fan's death during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4. Ram Gopal Varma shared his thoughts on the situation, pointing fingers at Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Ram Gopal Varma comments on Allu Arjun's arrest.

RGV shared a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter) expressing that everyone was taken aback by CM Revanth's actions towards Arjun. He suggested that it was all part of a strategy to boost the box office numbers for Pushpa 2: The Rule. He mentioned, “About the shock everyone feels regarding why the Honourable Chief Minister of Telangana @revanth_anumala did this to @alluarjun, I believe it was to give a BIG PUBLICITY BOOST to the state’s FAVOURITE SON, leading to a HUGE JUMP in #Pushpa2’s second-week earnings.”

The filmmaker also pointed out that the state had a ‘deliberately weak prosecution’ which allowed Arjun to get bailed out quickly. He stated, “This sheds light on why the STATE opted for such a weak PROSECUTION, enabling him to be BAILED OUT in just a few hours and become even more MEGA POPULAR, dominating the BOX OFFICE for a LONG, LONG TIME.”

He wrapped up his note by expressing gratitude to CM Revanth, saying, “Thanks, shri @revanth_anumala garu, for keeping the TELANGANA STATE’S PRIDE soaring high along with #Pushpa2’s SUPER COLLECTIONS.”

Revanth Reddy talks about Allu Arjun getting arrested.

CM Revanth mentioned on Friday that the state government isn't involved in the case leading to Arjun's arrest, emphasizing that the law is following its own path. In an interview with Aaj Tak, he raised the question of why Arjun shouldn't be arrested, pointing out, “There aren’t any protests happening in the state regarding his arrest. People talk about it, but no one seems to care about the fan's death or that her son is in the hospital. Once he wakes up from the coma, he’ll be without a mother.”

Revanth further stated, “He’s in the film industry; his job is to make movies and make money. What does that have to do with us? Did he fight in any India-Pakistan war and win for the country? He just made a movie, and it’s making money—that’s all there is to it.”

Something went down.

On December 4, Arjun showed up for the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, joined by his co-star Rashmika Mandanna and his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy. His appearance sparked a frenzy among the crowd, leading to a stampede. Tragically, one woman lost her life, and her young son was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The police have since filed an FIR against Arjun and the theatre management, stating they failed to notify authorities to manage the crowd.
