Shankar's upcoming film Game Changer, featuring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, faced some hiccups with its release in Tamil Nadu. The folks at Lyca Productions, who are behind Indian 2, reached out to the Tamil Film Producers Council to delay Game Changer's release until Shankar wraps up Indian 3. Fortunately, it seems like everything's been resolved now.

Game Changer Tamil version is all set for release

On Monday, Sun News shared that Lyca Productions had reached out to the TFPC to delay the release of Game Changer since Shankar hadn't yet provided the final cut of Indian 3, starring Kamal Haasan. Hindustan Times also confirmed that the film's release was at risk.

But good news came from the film's distributors, RockFort Entertainment, who announced that everything has been sorted out. They posted on X (formerly Twitter), “All systems go for the Grand Release of #GameChanger in Tamil Nadu!!! Huge thanks to everyone in the film community for their support. Get ready for the biggest Pongal blockbuster!”

The problem with Indian 3

The follow-up to Shankar’s 1996 movie Indian has faced quite a few setbacks since it started filming in 2019, mainly due to Covid-19 and a tragic accident on set that claimed a crew member's life. Although they wrapped up filming by 2024, it was revealed that a third installment is also in the works.

There are still some scenes left to shoot for the film, which features Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh. Shankar has been balancing his work on Indian with another project, Game Changer, which has been in production since 2021. So far, neither Lyca Productions nor Shankar has put out an official comment on the situation.

Game Changer Overview

Game Changer marks Shankar's debut in directing a Telugu film, even though he's had successful movies in that language prior to this. Alongside Ram and Kiara, the cast includes Anjali, SJ Suryah, Sunil, Jayaram, Samuthirakani, Prakash Raj, and Srikanth in significant roles. The story was penned by Karthik Subbaraj. The film is set to hit theaters in all South Indian languages and Hindi on January 10, just in time for Sankranthi.
