Hiring celebrity stylists is ‘expensive’

The cost of hiring celebrity stylists is considerable. When discussing the expenses associated with celebrities' red-carpet appearances, she remarked, “There is a team involved in that process. You are not handling it alone. It is costly. A stylist's fee can range from ₹20,000 for a red carpet appearance to ₹1 lakh for a single look or even more. You are paying for the stylist, the photographer who captures your look, as well as your hair and makeup team. I have collaborated with the same hair and makeup team for six years; they have become like family, and at times, they don’t even request payment.”

‘The designers always give out clothes to celebs’

When asked whether celebrities pay designers for the outfits they don at red carpet events, Rakul Preet clarified, “No, the payment goes to the stylist, who is responsible for sourcing the outfit. Stylists charge a fee that encompasses everything, including their assistants and courier expenses. This is why the cost increases when wearing an international designer. Stylists manage all aspects of a look. Designers often lend clothes to celebrities because the outfits worn by actors attract attention on social media, which enhances the designer's visibility and boosts their sales. Occasionally, I purchase the outfits curated for me by stylists, as I believe it is ethically wrong to accept them for free.”
