In a recent conversation, Yadav, recognized for his comedic performances, expressed that Baby John underperformed at the box office due to its status as a remake of the Tamil film Theri. He remarked that had it not been a remake, the film "would have been the most well-crafted project of his 25-year career." He further noted, "However, since Vijay had already portrayed the role, the audience was familiar with it, and this remaking ultimately impacted the film's box office success."

Backed by Atlee, the film also featured Jackie Shroff as the antagonist. It ended up earning less than Rs 50 crore domestically.
