Rajkummar Rao unveiled the teaser for his upcoming film, Bhool Chuk Maaf, on Tuesday, and one aspect stood out prominently: his dedication to the archetype of the 'small-town man eager to marry.' In this film, he portrays a young man from Banaras who is thrilled about the confirmation of his wedding date. Recently, he has taken on similar characters in projects such as Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video, Stree 2, Hum Do Humare Do, Roohi, among others. His affinity for these roles has also been acknowledged by Akshat, a comedian on Instagram known for his viral videos.

Rajkummar's love for same roles

In his video, Akshat humorously remarked that India had been devoid of tier 2 cities for an extended period, but their resurgence was necessary for Rajkummar, whom he referred to as the finest actor in the nation, to pursue a career. He stated, "Because there is no other narrative to convey in this world." He expressed that genres such as science fiction and historical narratives are insignificant, asserting that "the only story we have left is about a young man from a tier-2 city who wishes to get married. Our country's most talented actor, Rajkummar Rao, was destined to portray such roles."

Akshat acknowledged that Rajkummar did try a bunch of genres but this is where he has finally settled. “Zakir Khan says he's come from a small town but Rajkummar says he's going to a small town,” he joked.

Another commenter noted, "After Citylights, Rajkummar resolved never to venture into large cities again." Rajkummar Rao received similar feedback when he shared the teaser for his upcoming film on Instagram. One comment expressed, “It is disappointing to see Rajkummar being confined to the same genre of comedy films; he possesses far greater talent than this.” Another user remarked, “Rajkummar Rao seems to be receiving the same script repeatedly.”

The film, Bhool Chuk Maaf, is directed by Karan Sharma and is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios.

In addition to Bhool Chuk Maaf, Rajkummar Rao is also involved in the project Maalik. This film is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films label and Jay Shewakramani's Northern Lights Films, with a theatrical release scheduled for June 20, 2025.
