This revelation was made during a press conference held in Bardhaman, West Bengal, where he discussed the project with the media. Sourav Ganguly confirms Rajkummar Rao will play the lead in his biopic, but...

"From what I've heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role (the titular role)...but there are issues of dates...so it will take more than a year to hit the screens," the Indian skipper said at the press conference.

Can Rajkummar Rao be replaced by Sourav Ganguly?

Numerous Bollywood actors, including Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana, have been associated with the biopic of Sourav Ganguly. It has now been officially confirmed by the former captain that Rajkummar Rao will indeed be involved in the project. With this confirmation, the production team is likely coordinating schedules with Rajkummar before proceeding with any additional casting decisions.

Rajkummar Rao's Current Commitments  

In addition to his work on Guns & Gulaabs season 2, Stree 3, and his appearances in films within the Maddock Supernatural Universe, Rajkummar Rao is also engaged in projects titled Maalik and Toaster. He has several other projects in the pipeline, although specific information regarding these remains unverified.

Why did Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana back out of Sourav Ganguly biopic?

When inquired about his name being connected to the biopic, Ranbir stated that he was never contacted regarding the project and, therefore, is unaware of the origins of the rumours. Additionally, his name has been associated with the biopic of Kishore Kumar.

Regarding Ayushmann Khurrana, reports indicated that he was nearly confirmed for the role; however, he ultimately withdrew, expressing concerns over the excessive number of biopics currently in production and indicating that he requires more time to consider his involvement. It now appears that the project related to Sourav Ganguly may be progressing once again.
