Comedian and actor Rajiv Thakur recently discussed the significance of investing in oneself during an interview with Dostcast. He reminisced about a time when he found it difficult to purchase Amul butter. Thakur mentioned that although he is open to lowering his performance fees, he will not accept engagements unless he is guaranteed accommodations in a five-star hotel and a business-class flight.

When discussing his travel experiences, Rajiv remarked, "You can arrange for me to perform for free, but you must provide a business-class ticket. Additionally, you need to secure a suite in a five-star hotel for me; otherwise, I will not attend. I have drawn the line on this matter. You may reduce my fee, but these requirements are non-negotiable. I truly enjoy the experience. There is a unique pleasure in relaxing in a business lounge. Even if I leave home feeling full, I still find myself ordering something there. Those who have experienced hardship understand that if you don’t embrace life now, when will you? Otherwise, you’ll spend your life rushing to catch flights. What enjoyment is there in that?"

Rajiv Thakur says he doesn't want money

He elaborated, stating, "Why have I become this way in life? It’s because I observed in films how affluent individuals enter, issue commands, and occupy specific seats. Honestly, I don’t seek wealth; I desire this experience. Provide me with luxury. A suite room—I have never used a bathtub—but for the sake of that feeling, one aspires to embody greatness. My aspirations have only intensified. I have explored even more exquisite rooms. I believe this is essential for life. Otherwise, you earn money for your family, and they will either use it or it will remain in the bank."

Rajiv also noted that individuals who emerge from humble beginnings often find it challenging to spend money on themselves. He confessed that, despite his achievements, he struggles to indulge personally and instead focuses on his family's welfare. Reflecting on his past struggles, he recalled how he once yearned for Amul butter, a luxury he could only enjoy on Sundays. Now, he prefers to invest in his family to ensure they have the best.

Rajiv was recently observed portraying the antagonist in the Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, earning significant acclaim from viewers for his performance. He is now set to appear in the upcoming season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, which is scheduled to debut on Netflix in 2025.
