Originally released in 1991, Thalapathi was both written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead role alongside Mammootty, and includes performances by Arvind Swamy, Jaishankar, Amrish Puri, Srividya, Bhanupriya, Shobana, and Geetha, among others. Drawing inspiration from the characters Karna and Duryodhana from the Mahabharata, the narrative centers on the bond between two friends.

Rajinikanth’s much anticipated Coolie update

Currently, Rajinikanth is engaged in the production of Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film, produced by Sun Pictures, features a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruthi Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan. An announcement regarding the film is anticipated on Thursday, December 12. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, with the film expected to premiere in theaters in 2025.

Additionally, Rajinikanth is rumored to appear in Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, although an official confirmation from Sun Pictures has yet to be released.
