On February 7, Kannada actor Rajavardan is set to release his third film as a lead actor, titled Gajarama, in theatres, marking his return after nearly five years in the industry. Rajavardan, the son of esteemed actor Dingri Nagaraj, believes that his familial connections have not significantly benefited his career. He states, “Being the son of an actor does not guarantee an easy entry into the industry. It may serve as a preliminary advantage that opens a few doors, but ultimately, one must rely on their own abilities to thrive.” This sentiment was expressed during an interview with Prajaa TV Kannada.

Rajavardan asserts that the common perception among audiences is that individuals with a background in film have an easier path in the industry. However, he contends that this notion is far from accurate, referencing figures such as Vinnod Prabhakar, Tharun Kishore Sudhir, and even Darshan Thoogudeepa. He emphasizes that each of these individuals faced significant challenges prior to establishing themselves in the Kannada film industry, gaining acceptance only after they proved their capabilities to the audience.

Rajavardan: Kannada cinema lacks good writers and filmmakers

The actor emphasizes that the scarcity of talented writers and filmmakers significantly contributes to the slow advancement of careers for individuals like himself. He believes that while the situation has improved considerably over the past four to five years, progress remains sluggish in comparison to other neighbouring industries.

Rajavardan also explained his decision to make his debut in a historical film, Bicchugatthi. He noted that had he chosen to pursue a romantic drama or a purely commercial project, he would have been just one among many. By opting for a historical genre, which is seldom explored, he garnered much greater recognition. However, since that initial venture, the actor has predominantly focused on commercial films.

Gajarama features the actor portraying a wrestler, a role that necessitates a significant physical transformation, particularly in developing muscle definition in his shoulders and legs, along with training in professional wrestling within a mud ring.
