Raj & DK Speak Out: "Thrown Under the Bus" Amidst Gulkanda Tales Fraud Allegations
2 months ago | 5 Views
Filmmakers Raj and DK posted a cryptic message on their joint X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday afternoon, discussing the notion of 'putting their heads down' while feeling 'thrown under the bus.' Although the creators of The Family Man and Farzi did not elaborate on the specific circumstances, their tweet followed reports suggesting that Amazon Prime Video is shelving their upcoming series, Gulkanda Tales.
Raj and DK's note
In their message, Raj and DK shared several images of themselves on various film sets and included a lengthy note. They stated, "Occasionally, events occur that disrupt the status quo, presenting a choice in how to respond. For us, that response has always been straightforward—to focus on our work and persist in our efforts. We strive to work harder and improve continuously. This also serves as a reminder to evaluate our current position. While we are engaged in the production of our most ambitious project to date, having just completed season 3 of The Family Man, along with several other films and shows in development, we took a brief moment to reflect."
The filmmakers expressed their determination to remain unaffected by external challenges, stating, “We are precisely where we wish to be :) Crafting stories consistently, in our preferred manner, with those we cherish collaborating with, and working tirelessly throughout the year :).”
In a seemingly veiled reference to individuals attempting to undermine them, they remarked, "Challenges will persist…someone will attempt to undermine you, and others will voice their opinions…The most effective response to all of this appears to be to persist. To innovate and continue presenting you with fresh, original narratives. That has been our commitment."
In what appears to address the rumors surrounding the cancellation of Gulkanda Tales, the directors concluded their message with: "We felt it necessary to take a moment to reaffirm this! Upcoming projects include: Rakt Brahmand on Netflix; and Gulkanda Tales and The Family Man 3 on Prime." This statement seems to dispel any speculation regarding the show's cancellation.
The controversy around Gulkanda Tales and Rakt Brahmand
On Tuesday, Bollywood Hungama disclosed that Amazon Prime Video has decided to cancel Gulkanda Tales, the highly anticipated series from the duo. Additionally, Peeping Moon reported that the executive producer of their other project, Rakt Brahmand, is currently facing allegations of financial misconduct on set, with an unconfirmed sum estimated between ₹2–3 crore reportedly misappropriated from the production budget.
Gulkanda Tales is a historical sex comedy intended for Prime Video, featuring performances by Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Kunal Kemmu. The show is being produced by Raj and DK for Prime Video, with direction by Rahi Anil Barve, known for Tumbaad. The trio is also collaborating on Rakt Brahmand, a fantasy action series for Netflix, which stars Aditya Roy Kapur.
