On the occasion of Vijayadashami, actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty announced the third production venture under his banner, Lighter Buddha Films. The untitled project, tentatively called Production #3, has been written by actor JP Tuminadu, who will direct as well. The script pooja of the film was held at the Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple on October 12.
Lighter Buddha Films’ first production was Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, which Raj directed and acted in, followed by Toby, in which he only served as actor, while Basil AL Chalakkal was in the director’s chair. Raj’s last directorial was Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, a film he made for actress Ramya’s banner Applebox Studios.
JP Tuminadu, meanwhile, is, best known as the actor who played Rukmini Vasanth’s character Priya’s husband Deepak in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B. He was also seen in Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, as the guard/gardener Prabhakar.
During the promotions of Toby, Raj had said that his immediate focus would be his production house and that he was writing a couple of scripts to be directed by his associates. At the time he had said that one was a comedy and another a love story and that he wasn’t acting in either. He added that his return to the director’s chair would be decided thereafter.
In the time since, though, Raj has been very busy with acting commitments. He debuted in Malayalam cinema with Turbo, opposite Mammotty, which he followed up with the Onam release Kondal.
In Kannada, the actor’s upcoming projects include 45, which is composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut and has Shivarajkumar and Upendra also as lead characters. Raj will be the lead antagonist in Duniya Vijay’s film by Kaatera writer Jadesha K Hampi. There’s also Rakkasapuradhol, in which the actor will be seen in the role of a police officer. Raj is currently shooting for this film, which is being produced by action master Ravi Varma.
