In the realm of unreleased Indian cinema, Anurag Kashyap has another significant project on the horizon—Kennedy, featuring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone. Once regarded as one of the most eagerly awaited films, it made its rounds at various film festivals and was showcased at MAMI in India. However, that screening marked its last appearance in the country. Enthusiasts of Kashyap's work and film aficionados have been anticipating its release for nearly two years, yet no updates have emerged. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Rahul Bhat expressed his views on the matter, referring to Kashyap as a "genius."

Rahul Bhat on Getting Work

Kennedy features Rahul Bhat in the role of a former police officer who turns rogue in Mumbai, marking his second collaboration with director Anurag Kashyap. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Bhat expressed his satisfaction with the opportunities he has encountered in the industry, stating that he has no grievances. While discussing the absence of a release date for Kennedy, he also elaborated on his discerning method of selecting roles.

"I do not take on an excessive amount of work. I receive daily offers, but I am selective about my projects. I prefer collaborating with specific directors and only engaging in endeavours that genuinely captivate me. I commit fully to every project I undertake. To me, the significance of a role is not determined by its size—it's the actors who matter. I aspire to work with directors who share or surpass my enthusiasm for storytelling. Therefore, I have no complaints regarding the industry; I believe I am at my peak," Bhat stated.

Rahul Bhat on Kennedy

Bhat commented on the film Kennedy, indicating that he is not concerned about its postponed release, provided he has the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional filmmakers. "I am convinced that everything unfolds for a reason. Although Kennedy has yet to premiere, my experience working alongside a visionary like Anurag Kashyap has been invaluable. I often say that I would gladly work with these innovative directors countless times, regardless of whether the films see the light of day," he stated.

He continued, "My development as an actor has been significant due to Kennedy. Collaborating with directors such as Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane has honed my skills. I did not dedicate my life to studying theory or viewing classic cinema; rather, I acquired my knowledge on set. When I began my career, I was not a skilled actor. I am thankful that I did not participate in 50 subpar films. What would be the benefit? One would leave behind a legacy of 50 unsatisfactory works. Instead, I prefer to have 5 to 10 exceptional films. I am appreciative of the chances I have had to work with remarkable directors who have contributed to my growth and learning."
