Actor Alia Bhatt has revealed the inspiration behind the name of her daughter, Raha, in a recent appearance on Jay Shetty's On Purpose Podcast. Alia explained that both she and Ranbir Kapoor had previously received suggestions for a boy's name from their families. Notably, Ranbir's mother, actress Neetu Kapoor, proposed the name Raha, indicating that it would complement a potential brother's name.

Alia mentioned that Neetu's suggestion was met with immediate approval from both her and Ranbir. Reflecting on the naming process, Alia stated, "At that time, both Ranbir and I were enthusiastic parents, reaching out to our family group for suggestions on names for both boys and girls to ensure we were well-prepared. We had several names in mind and were particularly fond of one boy's name, which I will not disclose at this moment."

Alia discusses Neetu's recommendation

The actress hinted that she has a name ready for a future son. "We thought, 'This name is wonderful; do we have any more girl names?' My mother-in-law, Ranbir's mother, suggested, 'What about Raha? It pairs beautifully with the boy's name, should you have a son. If you have both a girl and a boy, it would create a lovely combination.' She also proposed combinations for girls. Ranbir and I immediately fell in love with the name Raha. We had both a boy's and a girl's name prepared. Raha signifies peace, joy, and bliss—all the qualities she embodies for us," Alia added.

Alia and Ranbir were married in April 2022 after several years of courtship. They welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November 2022. On Christmas 2023, the couple delighted their fans by making their first public appearance with Raha.

Alia is set to appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Additionally, she will feature in the upcoming movie Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail, which is slated for release on December 25.
