Actor Raghu Ram, famous for his roles in movies like Jhootha Hi Sahi and Tees Maar Khan, is gearing up to collaborate with Ajith Kumar in the new film Good Bad Ugly. In a recent chat with India Today, he shared that he got "told off" for referring to Ajith by his name instead of using 'sir' while on set.
Raghu Ram recalls calling Ajith Kumar by name on set
The actor confessed that he didn't fully grasp the significance of the chance to work alongside Ajith at first and shared some of the cultural differences he faced while filming. He remembered, "At first, I struggled with that. I grew up in Delhi and also worked in Mumbai, where we refer to our seniors by their names. When I arrived on set, Ajith introduced himself to me. Since we’re about the same age, I started calling him by his name, which felt a bit strange."
Raghu Ram remembers getting scolded by the director
He also mentioned that the director and assistant director reprimanded him for using the star's name, saying, “Everyone on set was taken aback, and it went quiet. Later, the crew mentioned it was disrespectful. When we were filming in Spain, the director and assistant director scolded me. I responded by saying I would refer to him as 'Sir', not because he did anything wrong, but because it made others uneasy. I feel like he’s not accustomed to people speaking to him casually.”
