Tollywood celebrities took to the street on Sunday in a mega rally to seek justice for the doctor who was killed and raped on August 9 at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. After the rally, they spent the night with common people on the street on Sunday. Swastika Mukherjee, Sohini Sarkar, Ushasie Chakraborty, Ushasi Ray, Bidipta Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty, Sovan Ganguly, Debleena Dutta, and many other celebrities were among them.
By her own admission, actress Ankita Chakraborty is proud of Kolkata and Bengalis. She is in Mumbai right now, but her heart remains in the city’s ongoing protest. She is mesmerized by the rally on Sunday. She shared a video message on social media where she said, “I proudly hold my head high for the fact that I hail from Kolkata. Once again we saw that Bengalis confined to the flat culture gave up their Sunday siesta and came to the streets.” She said she could feel the pain of her city from afar and empathizes with the citizens.
Ankita saluted those who took part in the rally and expressed her displeasure with the CM and the ruling party’s spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. She said, “I asked her in a video message to bring justice not as the chief of the ruling party but as a woman.” The next day Mamata came to the streets with her party workers seeking justice. Ankita wonders whom the head of the state asks for justice.
Ankita took a dig at Kunal Ghosh as well. Kunal opposed Arijit Singh on social media. Ankita reacted to this and said that if the politicians had the lifestyle and the dedication like Arijit, the country would flourish. She talked about many deprivations and said ‘Since the politicians keep mum at these, then please be silent now, too. Don’t bully.’
